KUCCPS to Open University and College Placement Portal in March 2026
  • PublishedJanuary 26, 2026

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has officially announced that the application portal for university and college placement will open in March 2026.

This announcement, confirmed by KUCCPS CEO Dr Agnes Mercy Wahome, brings much-needed clarity to over 900,000 candidates who sat for the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations. The March launch is strategically timed to allow for the completion of result verification and the validation of capacities declared by various higher learning institutions.

Key highlights of the 2026 placement cycle

The upcoming placement cycle introduces several key measures designed to streamline the process and enhance the student experience:

  • For the first time, students can apply for hospitality and tourism courses at Kenya Utalii College through the KUCCPS portal, following a landmark partnership aimed at enhancing access to specialised training.
  • KUCCPS has prioritised system upgrades to handle high traffic and prevent the technical glitches that have occasionally hampered previous application windows.

  • Support teams will be deployed across all 47 counties to assist students, particularly those in rural areas, with the online application process.

  • The portal will display the cost of each program alongside government scholarship and Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) eligibility, helping families make informed financial decisions.

Preparing for the application

Before the portal opens, KUCCPS is hosting its inaugural National Career Conference and Exhibition at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) from January 27 to 29, 2026. This event serves as a proactive platform for students to interact with over 100 institutions and industry mentors.

“Come March, every eligible student will have a fair and seamless opportunity to interact with the system and choose their preferred courses,” stated Dr. Agnes Mercy Wahome.
