A form three student beaten to death by prefect for reading bible

A form three student at the St. Joseph Nyabigena Secondary School in Kisii county was reportedly beaten to death by a school prefect who found him reading a bible.

According to the Standard, the deceased, the only son in his family, apparently got into an argument with the school prefect who slapped and kicked him in the stomach severally.

The student was rushed  to the Tabaka Mission hospital where he pronounced dead upon arrival.

This incident left teachers accusing the school management of giving too much power to student leaders as fellow students boycotted lunch in protest.

The deceased’s father said that he was aware of the incident and would want to allow detectives to carry out investigations before making any conclusions on the cause of his son’s death.
