Some of conditions related to stress include obesity, heart disease, Alzheimer’s disease, diabetes, depression, gastrointestinal problems, and asthma. When one is in love, there is an increase of blood flow to the skin, giving it nutrients and oxygen. This makes you look physically younger.
Keep learning: One of the keys to staying young is to keep learning. Whether it is through reading books, taking an online course, or learning how to dance, the choice is yours. Just don’t stagnate; make a commitment to learn. Henry Ford once said, “Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young. The greatest thing in life is to keep your mind young.”
Go for medical checkups: It is advisable to go for regular medical checkups as these can help you live a long, healthy and happy life relatively free of disease. Most of the times people who don’t go for checkups end up with chronic illnesses because they were diagnosed too late. Studies have shown that many diseases can be treated if diagnosed early. And truth be told, there is nothing youthful about being unwell. So, take charge of your health.
Cut down on alcohol and coffee: Like everything else, too much alcohol, coffee and even tea can be harmful to your health. If you must take alcohol, take it in moderation as alcohol dries out your skin and can lead to wrinkles and premature ageing. In addition, alcohol causes bloating and dark circles under your eyes – nothing youthful about that, right? Take lots of water instead since it is good for your body.
Eat healthy: This is one of the crucial habits you have to adapt if you are to stay youthful for a long time. The rule of thumb here is to never skip a meal. Remember to include fruits, vegetables and fish into your diet. Also cut out excess sugar; too much of the sweet stuff leads to inflammation, which makes you appear older.
Get enough sleep: Getting enough sleep regularly can help boost your energy levels, relieve stress and keep your weight down. Getting at least six to eight hours of sleep every night will help you to feel and look a lot younger than your real age!
Passion: Having passion in what you do can make life interesting and enjoyable. Immersing yourself in worry and negativity will only lead to premature ageing. Go out, have fun with friends and family, and learn to keep worry at bay.
Regular, satisfying sex: Sex enhances emotional intimacy, relaxes us, decreases stress and makes us feel great hence making one look younger. According to scientists, during sex, the skin is bathed in anti-inflammatory molecules such as oxytocin and beta-endorphins, which have anti-ageing effects. Research shows regular sex can make one look seven years younger. Loving intercourse with a consistent partner is more beneficial.
