BEST SKIN-CARE regimen for your 30s
Let’s be honest; once you hit your 30s, fine lines and wrinkles become more visible on your face and your skin tone becomes more uneven. But it is not all doom and gloom because with a good skin care regimen, you can ensure your skin keeps looking young and healthy for the next 30 years and beyond. We tell you how.
As you age, your skin tends to get drier, thinner and duller. And so it is not unusual for you to notice that at 30, your skin starts sagging. In addition, your skin’s metabolism also begins to slow down unlike in your 20s when your skin would naturally rejuvenate itself every 21 to 28 days. This affects its appearance. The following skin care tips will help you keep your skin looking healthy and youthful for as long as you can.
Use a mask for your face. To keep your skin looking young, you need to get serious about exfoliating it. It would be wise to invest in a good facial and a mud scrub as these freshen your skin by removing dead skin cells. It also stimulates blood circulation hence ensuring your skin gets the vital nutrients and oxygen it needs to renew itself. Get into a routine of exfoliating your skin at least twice a week. You could alternate by using a facial scrub mid week and a mud scrub at the end of the week and vice-versa. For a smooth and healthy skin, apply the scrub on your face and then wash it off.
Use a face serum.Face serum is a skincare product that is applied to the skin after cleansing but before moisturising to help ingredients penetrate deeper into the skin. They contain a dose of anti-ageing ingredients, which helps your skin to slow down the ageing process, clears blemishes and smoothens wrinkles. Since serums are made of very small molecules, the skin absorbs them quickly and deeply. It is recommended that you apply a facial serum every morning and evening before bedtime to help keep the skin looking smooth, clear, and even-toned.
Consider a serum such as rejuvenate serum made of natural antioxidants such as Argan oil and which comes in medicine-dropper applicators to dispense just the tiny amount you need. While you are likely to see some improvements on your skin right after using a serum, the real benefits are over the long term as you will see the signs of damage on your skin fade away and it will look and feel healthier and firmer too.
Invest in an eye cream. Eyes, being the window to the soul, shouldn’t be neglected. As you age, the skin around your eyes is normally the first place to show signs of ageing and develop fine lines because it is much thinner than on the rest of your face. But a good eye cream should be able to do the magic such as minimising shadows, bags or lines under your eyes that are as a result of overindulgence or even sun damage. Invest in a good eye cream that contains ingredients such as B5 and vitamin E to help prevent lines from forming and minimise the look of dark circles and puffiness around your eyes.
Always use sunscreen.Learn to apply a sunscreen but only after you have applied some face serum and eye cream on. As a rule of the thumb, sunscreen should always be the final step in your skincare routine because any skin-care product applied over a sunscreen reduces its effectiveness. For best results, get into the habit of applying the sunscreen at least 15 minutes before stepping out of the house. Using a sunscreen with a SPF of at least 30 daily will prevent fine lines and wrinkles and keep pimple scars from darkening.
