Former University of Nairobi student leader, Samuel Ragira was allegedly shot dead by goons on Thursday night at Club 36 market located opposite Nairobi Primary School.

Mr. Ragira, popularly known as OCS Ragira is reported to have met his death after confronting the goons whom he accused of terrorising traders at the market.

In a previous post on Facebook, the student made bold claims that Klabu traders and students were being terrorised by the Mungiki under police watch.

“Students are being harassed and others losing their phones. We want to know why the police can side with people terrorising innocent Kenyans. Why should a mama mboga pay 10K to unknown people to do business?” read part of the post.

In response to this, a section of students at the University of Nairobi took to the streets to protest the murder. The students  blocked State House Road as they engaged police in running battles.

Here are what Kenyans had to say:

Those who die in the war see the end of the war so that those who survive can see peace. Freedom will come because you have paid for it Sam Ragira #RIPOCSRAGIRA

OCS Ragira was alive when police arrived. He was breathing, but they bundled him into a pickup instead of calling an ambulance. This was clearly arranged to let him die. His Facebook posts show why they killed him. It’s time comrades rise up and make the police pay #RIPOCSRagira pic.twitter.com/Crwm8H2V0C

It was Rongo, JKUAT, MMUST yesterday was UON. We do not know who next? Comrades are being killed. I condemn with strongest terms possible the extrajudicial Killing of OCS RAGIRA #RIPOCSRAGIRA pic.twitter.com/T6NmIJuSXo

What’s wrong UoN? What became of radical leadership? How can a comrade be killed body in cold room yet business is running as usual in the university and town? Everything need to come to a standstill until Police gives answers #RIPOCSRAGIRA
