Grand Manor Hotel Demolished

  • PublishedDecember 13, 2018

The demolition of the multi billion shilling Grand Manor Hotel in Gigiri by the Nairobi City County commenced early Thursday morning.

This came a day after the high court rejected an application to stop its destruction citing that the hotel was built without permission and it posed a security threat to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and US Embassy offices.

Gigiri Village Association had also filed a complaint to stop the expansion of the hotel saying that it violated the physical planning regulations for the low density estate.

Businessman and owner of the hotel, Praful Kumar, first came into the limelight after he was arrested by the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission on for  allegedly trying to bribe Governor Mike Sonko to allow the expansion of the hotel.
