Kenyans are known all over the world. It may be in positive or negative light, but we still put a mark in the global map.We have been dubbed the hot bed of champions, due to our unparalleled record on the athletics track.

On a much more disheartening note, Kenya like many other African countries, has had to grapple with high unemployment. This has however not dimmed our hope but has instead brought out our inner genius. Thus online jobs, especially academic writing has been an avenue of choice for eager and hardworking students who burn the midnight oil to write full research papers and theses for their foreign counterparts.

This avenue will soon be a thing of the past after Paypal announced plans to withdraw its platform from essay writing firms in an effort to curb academic cheating.

The move comes after UK Education Secretary Damian Hinds called on PayPal and similar firms to stop offering their services to sites that aid lazy students in cheating.

“PayPal is working with businesses associated with essay-writing services to ensure our platform is not used to facilitate deceptive and fraudulent practices in education,”  Paypal told the BBC.

Essay companies rely heavily on payment platforms to process payments for academic writers hence this will be a big blow to players in this thriving business.
