Ministry of Health confirms Kenya's first coronavirus case

The Ministry of Health via Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has confirmed the first coronavirus case in Kenya.

The Kenyan citizen is said to have travelled to Nairobi from US via London on March 5th, and tested positive for the virus on March 12th. The patient who is said to be a 27-year-old lady,  is stable. The government has began a contact tracing exercise to for people the lady might have come into contact with.

The CS has further said that schools will remain open, but interschool events will not take place. All visits to prisons have also been suspended for 30 days.

Public events, meetings and crusades have also been suspended and public transport operators have been ordered to provide sanitizers for all their clients.

James Macharia, the Transport CS has said the Ministry will conduct training at various bus stops from 10 am to 4pm.
