People: John Legend is the 'Sexiest Man Alive'

John Legend is not only an EGOT legend, now he is the sexiest man alive, according to People magazine. He takes over from actor Idris Elba, who held the title last year.

Legend is one of the youngest people to scoop the Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony awards, and the first Black man to win all four – earning him the EGOT status.

The singer has reacted to the pronouncement in a hilarious Twitter post, posting a past picture of himself alongside that of Idris Elba, and poking fan at how they compare.

“1995 John would be very perplexed to be following 2018 @IdrisElba as #sexiestman alive,” tweeted the star “Hell, 2019 John is about as equally perplexed but thank you @People for finding me sexy. I’ll take it.”

“I was excited, but I was a little scared at the same time because it’s a lot of pressure,” he said of him being sexier than any man alive, “Everyone’s going to be picking me apart to see if I’m sexy enough to hold this title. I’m  following Idris Elba which is not fair and is not nice to me!”

Voices of dissent

True to his fears, not everyone is happy with John Legend’s declaration as the Sexiest Man Alive. Wendy Williams, she of the Wendy Williams Show, for instance, has voiced her dismay. She made it known that actor Jason Momoa would have made a better fit.

John Legend’s wife, Chrissy Teigen, foreseeing the discontent this announcement would bring, took to Twitter to denounce the naysayers in classic Teigen style.

“I cannot WAIT for people to get mad about John being the sexiest man alive. It’s my new Starbucks holiday cup,” Tweeted the former model and Queen of Twitter Shade.

She did not stop there, however. The mum of two went ahead and changed her bio to read “de-motivational speaker currently sleeping with people’s sexiest man alive.”

She has countered most of the anti-Legend quips, and everybody who knows Teigen knows her comebacks are hard to rise from.

Everyone deserves a spouse who defends them like Chrissy does John!
