Police have launched investigations into the death of two PP2 pupils who were reportedly defiled and murdered in Suneka, Kisii County. This has left families and the local community in shock.
The bodies of the two young girls were discovered inside sacks. The sacks had been abandoned in a banana plantation near their homes, according to reports. The discovery sparked outrage among residents, who are now demanding swift investigations and justice for the children.
The two girls, who were in Pre-Primary Two (PP2), are reported to have gone missing before their bodies were found. Their deaths have raised fresh concerns about the safety of children. Especially in communities where they may be exposed to risks while walking to school, playing, or carrying out daily activities.
Police officers visited the scene and began investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and identify those responsible. The bodies were moved for further examination as authorities worked to gather evidence.
Child protection advocates have called for urgent action on this incident. The advocates call for ensuring that perpetrators of violence against children are held accountable. Also stronger measures to be put in place to protect minors.
The incident comes amid continued concerns over violence against children in Kenya, with experts urging parents, schools, communities, and authorities to work together in creating safer environments for children.
Parents have also been reminded to maintain open communication with their children, teach them about personal safety in age-appropriate ways, and pay attention to changes in behaviour that may indicate distress or danger.
As investigations continue, the Suneka community remains in mourning, with residents calling for justice for the two young learners whose lives were cut short.
