Secrets for glowing and gorgeous skin

  • PublishedDecember 25, 2017

Beautiful skin does not just come naturally; you have to take care of it. One of the ways to do so is to have a regular skin care routine, which includes cleansing, toning and moisturising. Read on for tips on how to keep your skin glowing all the time.

To begin with, get into the habit of washing your face at least twice a day – morning and evening. You should avoid sleeping with make-up on, as this leads to a build up of bacteria and breakouts. Even when you are not able to wash your face for whatever reason, clean off the makeup using facial wipes. Also, cleanse your skin habitually using a suitable facial scrub to help get rid of any spots and blemishes. Let the cleanser sit on your skin for some seconds for it to work optimally. After cleansing and toning, apply an anti-ageing cream such as organic Argan oil.

Men too are not exempted from a good grooming regimen and, therefore, should ensure they always wash or wipe off dirt, oil, and sweat from their face before going to bed. They should also be in the habit of applying a moisturiser to a cleansed face.

Whereas a lot of emphasis is often placed on cleansing and moisturising, many people leave out toning from their grooming regimen, yet this is essential for both genders as it helps normalise the pH balance. If you have oily or acne-prone skin, go for a toner that can get rid of the excess oil and prevent breakouts. For normal skin, go for a toner that that doubles up as a moisturiser with soothing cucumber and vitamins A and E.

It is recommended to go for toners that are made of dead sea minerals such as those from La Cure Beauté skin care range, as these are alcohol-free and leave the skin looking healthier and younger. Both men and women can use the La Cure Beauté toner. For instance, men can use it as an aftershave because of its cooling effect. It also soothes the skin, which tends to be tender after shaving.

Invest in a good moisturiser as it helps to hydrate the skin as well as reduce dark spots and uneven skin tones. Moisturisers are recommended for both men and women and are available in supermarkets, beauty stores and spas.

There is also need to get into the habit of applying a sunscreen. This should be done as the final step of your skincare routine because any skin-care product applied over a sunscreen has its effectiveness reduced. Sunscreen protects you from the harmful rays of the sun thus preventing premature skin ageing, fine lines and wrinkles. Sunscreen also stops pimple scars from darkening.

The skin needs to be hydrated daily and one of the ways of doing this is consuming a diet that includes lots of fruits and vegetables. Of equal importance is the need to take at least eight glasses of water daily.

Finally, your skin reflects what is going on inside your body. It is, therefore, important to learn how to manage stress levels as stress can make your skin more prone to acne breakouts and other skin problems despite a good and regular skin-care routine.
