Health officials in Trans Nzoia have raised alarm regarding an outbreak of Marburg in the region.  According to Kitale County Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. Emmanuel Wanjala, its the first case being experienced in the region.

The case comes after a Ugandan Citizen suspected to have contracted the disease and visited a local medicine man for medication. Officials suspect that the medicine man may  have contracted the condition too. He has since been put under medical observation.

Marburg has Ebola like symptoms which include fever, severe headache, muscle pain, weakness, fatigue, diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pain and hemorrhage. The officers who spoke to media said samples have been taken to Kenya Medical Research Institute for further analysis. Meanwhile Quarantine has been enforced in the affected area.
