Two chiefs arrested in Wajir for manipulating census numbers
Police officers in Wajir have arrested two chiefs and one assistant chief after they were found to have manipulated the census numbers. The administrators decided to increase the numbers for each household.
“Yes I can confirm that the three administrators have been arrested and investigations are ongoing into the matter. They were involved in increasing the numbers in respective locations,” said Lyford Kibaara, Wajir County Commissioner.

“The administrators decided to increase the numbers by double and in other instances triple for reasons we are yet to ascertain,” he added.
Identities confirmed
The administrators are Khalif Sirat (chief-Habaswein) and his assistant Khalid May and Musa Abdi (chief-leheley).

This comes two weeks after Regional Commissioner Mohamed Birik warned the chiefs and their assistants against interfering with the numbers.
The County Commissioner promised to bring to book even more people who are involved in the same acts.
