Why “Me-Time” Is a Necessity, Not a Luxury, for a Successful Year

Why “Me-Time” Is a Necessity, Not a Luxury, for a Successful Year
  • PublishedJanuary 1, 2026

A friend of mine is a mother of two children under two, and 2025 was not her best year. She was constantly giving, constantly tired, and slowly running on empty. Her experience reflects that of many parents who put themselves last and call it sacrifice.

Me-time is often seen as optional, but in reality, it is essential. Parenting requires emotional, mental, and physical energy, and without moments to recharge, burnout becomes inevitable.

Me-time does not have to be elaborate. It can be a quiet cup of tea, a short walk, prayer, reading a few pages of a book, or simply sitting in silence. These small pauses help parents reset and return more patient and present.

When parents prioritise themselves, they model healthy boundaries for their children and create a more balanced home environment. A successful year is not about doing more—it is about being well enough to show up.

Me-time is not selfish. It is necessary.
