10 children kidnapped last year December in Tanzania were found dead yesterday.

According to the Tanzanian authorities, the 10 children were killed for their body parts. The bodies of the children aged two to nine had missing parts such as teeth, private parts, and respiratory organs.

“These murders are linked to witchcraft because that is the trend for such crimes, where herbalists ask people to get these human parts for money rituals,” said Ruth Msafiri, Njombe District Commissioner.

Ms. Msafiri also urged parents to be watchful and teach their children to be careful  with those they relate with and strive to learn their motives.

The sad incident has left parents wary of their children’s safety, with most of them  taking time off work to personally take their children to and from school.

The witchdoctors believe that human body parts, especially from albinos, have special powers that can make someone rich.

The search for the perpetrators of the inhuman act is ongoing. Unfortunately, this is not an isolated case, hence the move by the Deputy Health Minister to educate traditional healers on ‘the need to stop these acts.’
