Baltsar Engonga’s Involvement in Explicit Videos Sparks Outrage
Social media and the global community have expressed their concerns and shock over a significant ethical breach involving one Baltsar Engonga from Equatorial Guinea.
According to international reports, Engonga who is the country’s Director General of the National Financial Investigation Agency (ANIF), recorded more than 400 explicit tapes featuring intimate encounters with the wives of high-profile officials including the sister of the President of Equatorial Guinea, Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo.
The tapes were allegedly filmed consensually from different locations but most of them were shot from his office, with the Equatorial Guinea flag being seen in the background.
The footage surfaced online and spread fast and wide before the authorities could curb its dissemination.
All this happened despite Engonga, whose local nickname is ‘Bello’ on account of his looks, being married and with six children.
According to the state television TVGE, the tapes came to light during an investigation into the 54-year-old for misappropriation of funds and fraud. At the time, he was being held in remand at Black Beach prison located in Malabo.
On Monday, the Vice President of Equatorial Guinea, Teodoro Nguema, assured the citizens that all those involved in the scandal will face the long arm of the law.
“Today we will proceed with the immediate suspension of all officials who have had sexual relations in the offices of the country’s ministries. The government will take severe measures against these acts, since it constitutes a flagrant violation of the Code of Conduct,” he said.
Currently, Engonga is being held in custody as authorities proceed with the investigations. He is also facing scrutiny due to his actions and the public health risks related to his actions.
The country’s Attorney General, Nzang Nguema, commented on the situation saying that as much as the relations were consensual, meaning that they are not punishable under the current laws, there is the issue of public health.
