A secondary school principal from Mosa High School in Kitui has been charged with raping a form four female student.

Identified as Samuel Matuvi Kimanzi, 58, he allegedly committed the offence on the night of 21st May 2018.

According to an article ran by the Daily Nation, the victim was summoned outside their dormitory. Thereafter, she was taken to the school fence where she was raped. The student went back to the dormitory weeping and informed her friends.

The following day students boycotted classes and protested until the guardian of the victim came to take her to hospital. Immediately after the medical checkup, her guardian reported the incident to the police at Mbitini market.

Kimanzi was arrested thereafter and taken to the Mbitini Police cell.

Appearing before Chief magistrate Marianne Murage, Kimanzi pleaded not guilty to the charges against him. He was released on cash bail of Kshs 50,000.

His case was scheduled for hearing on 22nd September 2018.
