Wreckage of missing FlySax plane located. No survivors
The wreckage of the FlySax plane that went missing on Tuesday 5th June has been located in the Aberdares.
Nyandarua County Commissioner Boaz Cherutich confirmed that aerial search teams sighted the wreck at the peak of the ranges on Thursday morning.
The Cesna C208 craft, registration number 5Y-CAC had been missing for over 36 hours.The last signals had been picked around Njambini area in Kinangop on Wednesday 6th June.
Fervent efforts by the rescue teams were constantly deterred by bad weather.
The plane took off from Kitale airstrip in Trans-Nzoia County at 4.05pm on Tuesday. It was expected at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport about an hour later but is said to have lost contact with the control tower at about 5pm that evening.
The Air Accident Investigation Division of Kenya said until investigations are complete, it is too early to know what caused the accident.
The aircraft had a maximum of 8 passengers and 2 crew members. The rescue team later held a press conference and confirmed that unfortunately, everyone on board, had died.
