A 53-year old Kenyan man has been found guilty of sexually assaulting an elderly 74-year old patient. Antony Mamboleo Nyakio has been sentenced for life according to Dallas News. The incident supposedly took place at  Woodridge Health and Rehabilitation Center in Grapevine, Texas, where Mr Nyakio was working as an assistant nurse back in 2018.

“After the assault, nurses caring for the patient found blood in her underwear. An exam found evidence of vaginal tearing consistent with sexual abuse, and staff recovered DNA during a sexual assault exam that was eventually used to tie Nyakeo to the assault,” the District Attorney’s office told Dallas News.

The victim died later that year as she was suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.

After the incident, all the male staff who had been working at the facility were asked to provide DNA samples. Nyakio’s DNA matched. But in a plea, Nyakio denied the charges. He said that someone else had used his DNA from used condom and planted it on the victim’s body.

The prosecutors also wrote in a document in court that Nyakio had previously sexually harassed his colleagues and tried to leave Texas during the investigations. Nyakio got a life sentence for each count for the two counts of aggravated sexual assault of an elderly or disabled person.
