Over 2000 students of Laikipia University from the Nyahururu campus will be accommodated at the main campus in Karuga following closure of the campus earlier this week by the Commission University Education (CUE).

This was after the institution failed to meet requirement set by the Commission while starting the campus even after the Commission wrote to the university management two years ago directing them to comply with the requirements.

Some students complained that they had already paid semesters fees and accommodation in the hostels and their money was likely to go into waste.

“The closure has caught us by surprise. The management had not told us anything about it,” said a student.

However, the Vice Chancellor Kibet Rotich said that they are making necessary arrangements to see to it that all students had are accommodated so that their learning is not disrupted.

Meanwhile, congestion is likely to be experienced in Laikipia University main campus, as well as at the other two satellite campuses in Nakuru and Mararal.
