Tanzanian President John Magufuli has pledged to get herbal treatment for Covid. He says he will dispatch a plane to Madagascar, to get the treatment.
“I have communicated with Madagascar and they already have written a letter saying they have Covid-19 treatment. We will send a plane to bring the drugs so that Tanzanians can also benefit,” He said in a TV address.
Magufuli has endorsed the herbal tonics as cure for Covid- 19 virus. To him, he is working day and night to save the lives of Tanzanians.
The organics are produced from artemisia, also known for producing an ingredient used for treatment of Malaria.
However, the World Health Organization (WHO) has said there is no proof that the herbal can indeed cure Covid.
So far, Tanzanians have reported 480 cases of the virus. Kenya on the other hand has reported 465 cases.
Magufuli has gone ahead to encourage his citizens to turn to prayers as the virus cannot harm the faithful.
He also threw flames at those who were urging Tanzania to close her markets “lock-down” as a measure to reduce the spread of the virus in Tanzania, calling them short-sighted.
“Some people are asking us to close our markets . Where will we buy food for our six million people in Dar es Salaam?” He asked.
Magufuli added that their enemies want their markets closed whereas developed countries who have done the same, their situation is worst.
“In Tanzania, we won’t copy and paste what everyone else is doing. Let’s keep working, observe the precautions and ignore the naysayers.” He said in his address to the Nation.
