Man commits suicide after wife denied him conjugal rights

A middle aged man has committed suicide in Nyawita slums, Kisumu sub-county, after a disagreement with his wife over conjugal rights.

The deceased is reported to have engaged the wife in a quarrel in their house after she allegedly refused to have sex with him.

Nyawita sub-location Assistant Chief Judith Obure says the man got agitated then consumed battery acid.

While confirming the incident, the administrator said the woman ran to her office to report the matter after the wife had consumed the acid.

Speaking to Radio Ramogi, Austin Ochieng – a neighbour to the deceased – said they helped the wife rush the husband to the hospital after the incident.

According to Ochieng, the man succumbed at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital while undergoing treatment.
