Motorists advised to avoid Mai Mahiu – Naivasha Road after tremor causes cracks
The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has advised motorists to avoid the Mai Mahiu-Naivasha road following Sunday’s earth tremor which caused a fault along the road.
The fault has affected Fay Amario area which is about 8 kilometres from Naivasha after tremors were reported in Nairobi, Kiambu, Machakos, Mmbasa, Nyeri and Makueni.
Traffic police have been deployed on sight to facilitate traffic flow and have detoured private vehicle operators to use the main Kamandura – Limuru – Kinungi – Naivasha Highway.
Heavy commercial vehicle operators have also been urged to exercise caution and restraint, and to follow traffic flow directions that are being provided by the Traffic Police Department.
“We advise all motorists to observe lane discipline and avoid overlapping which can result in traffic flow disruptions,” KeNHA stated.
KeNHA will notify the public over any new developments.
