The National Aids Control Council (NACC) yesterday reassured Kenyans that they have no intentions of distributing condoms to school going children.

In a meeting held in Mombasa County, the NACC Chief Executive Officer,  Nduku Kilonzo said the Council  will only promote condoms as a means of preventing unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases but however urged the school children to maintain abstinence.

‘’In the quest to ensure delivery for HIV prevention and control to school going people , age appropriate information and prevention intersections including advocacy for abstinence for young people cross-sectoral working group,’’ said Dr Kilonzo.

Speaking during the celebration of the International Condom day at Pwani University in Kilifi, NACC Deputy Director, John Kimigwi said that 39% death of adults in the country are as a result of HIV and AIDS and revealed that teenage pregnancy in Kilifi County has drastically increased from 13,000 to 17,500 the last five months.
