Droopy breasts are a concern for moms considering breastfeeding. No mom should worry her breasts will sag if she breastfeeds.

Research from the University of Kentucky in the US shows there is no difference in breast shape or size between women who choose to nurse their babies and those who don’t. Being pregnant in itself can lead to sagging because weight f luctuations stretch the skin, says the study, adding that large-breasted women are more apt to be affected, as are those who have had multiple pregnancies.

The study also found smoking to be a factor for sagging breasts. The chemicals in cigarettes break down elastin, a protein in skin that helps it retain its shape.
