Rugby players Frank Wanyama and Alex Olaba found gulity of rape

Kenya rugby players Lawrence Frank Wanyama and Alex Olaba Mahaga have been found guilty of rape by the Milimani Law Courts. The two allegedly raped a woman identified as W.A after she agreed to go to one of the player’s house for a birthday celebration on Feb 10, 2018.

In the verdict delivered by Milimani Law Courts judge Martha Mutuku, the two who play for Harlequin RFC were found to have raped the woman at an apartment in Highrise, Nairobi County. The players will be sentenced today (Friday 9).

Pregnant

In her submission, W.A said that she took a test the following morning after the incident but did not report it to the police until she realized she was pregnant and on reaching out to Wanyama he refused to take responsibility.

This prompted the lady to post screenshots of their conversations on Twitter which elicited mixed reactions leading to the arrest of the two players.

Demanding money

However, the two players claimed that the sexual encounter was consensual and that the lady decided to start demanding money from them after the incident.
