US Based Kenyan Lecturer sentenced to death

Sheila Wanjiku Kibinge, said to be a university lecturer based in the US and also a PhD student, was handed the sentence by High Court Judge Jessie Lessit for murdering her husband in a row over family property three years ago.

Justice Lessit said the prosecution, led by State Prosecutor Evelyn Onunga, proved beyond reasonable doubt that she purposed to kill her husband although she allege they were both kidnapped the night her husband was executed.

The judge dismissed her defence that it is the kidnappers who killed her husband.

The accused murdered her husband by shooting him in the head, neck and chest.
