Want to improve the smell of your vagina? Try these foods
“Is it normal to have a smell down there?” Oh yes, it is very normal. The smell is not the same for all women due to differences in diet, hormones and genetics which influence the scent. As long as you are healthy, you have no reason to worry. The problem comes in when your vagina begins to smell “fishy” (pun intended). The unnatural odour could be as a result of vaginosis bacteria, yeast infection, or sexually transmitted diseases. The good news is there are certain foods that can help maintain a natural and even sweet smell for your lady bits.
Plain yogurt
Yogurt contains bacteria that are naturally produced in the body. Thus, it is considered to be a great way of maintaining a healthy vagina. Yogurt is also known to reduce sugar levels in your body, which translates to a lower PH. Yogurt also helps fight any vaginal infections
Pineapples
Pineapples smell and taste good, right? What if I told you that your lady bits could smell and even taste better by eating pineapples? They contain Vitamin C and antioxidants and eating them will leave you smelling amazing. Other citrus fruits also help improve the smell as they discourage bacterial growth.
Water
Water helps flush out any impurities from your system. Staying well hydrated will ensure that your lady bits are moist and well lubricated.
Berries
Berries such as cranberries, strawberries, and black berries are good for both smell and taste of your vagina.
While strong foul smelling odours normally indicate serious underlying issues and may not necessarily be caused by foods, studies conducted in Oregon State University reveal that foods such as garlic, coffee onions and strong spices can slightly alter the smell down there. Meat, dairy products and alcohol also have a hand in this. Reduce intake of these kinds of foods, drink lots of water, and adhere to a more vegetarian kind of diet for a better smell. However, if you have a serious odour issue, you should consult a doctor.
