Wash away germs

  • PublishedAugust 2, 2011

Washing your hands thoroughly and often is the first step in keeping germs at bay, especially the colds and flu viruses. It is important to make sure you wash your hands the right way each time you do so. Rather than a quick fly-by the tap or splash of water, experts say you should rub your hands together vigorously and scrub every part of your hands with soap, including the back. Rub your hands together for at least 15 seconds, paying attention to underneath your fingernails, then rinse with warm water and dry them well with a clean towel, preferably paper towel.
