Why Men Can’t Cry and How Friendship Fails Them
Who is men’s mental health actually for? Drinking themselves under, picking their poison out of bottled liquor or traditional brews.
For men, it is frowned upon to be anything but upright or proper. Do you remember the last time you saw a man cry at a funeral? Even if you do. It might have felt a little off-putting. Have we failed as a society to provide a foundation for men to crumble?
Male Loneliness Epidemic
Recently, a TikTok video garnered significant attention. Dozens of creators stitched the video, each with something to say. But the topic remained clear: the state of male friendships.
Andrew Lafferty is a content creator who invented a game show where a group of male friends ask each other personal questions. From each other’s birthdays to the names of their significant others and exes that hurt them the most. Typical game night behavior, right?
But this is where it gets good. None of the questions was paired with the correct answers. Some deep, heartfelt revelations that night were not met with consideration, but laughter.

Not every friend is a close confidant after all. Some male friends are acquaintances, from drinking buddies to work associates. Not many males are blessed with the boon of brotherly bonds. By blood or otherwise.
Going through life trying to seek that is not only futile but also unrealistic. But genuine male friendships play a crucial role in understanding men’s mental health.
Accept that men are more emotional
Male infants cry more than female infants. In the early months of infancy, male infants cry more than their female counterparts. It is a fact that male children are more vocal. Consequently, these cries are more distressing than those of the female counterparts.
No men are created equal. Gender wars encompass the globe ten times over. There are certain privileges that one sex holds that the counterpart does not. Additionally, there are no advantages without side effects.
In a world that seems rigged against men. Men have evolved to shield their emotions. It is such emotions that have driven the world’s greatest inventions and created new life. Men’s emotions are the key to the future.
