A woman in Khalanda village, Navakholo sub-county of Kakamega county, insulted and threatened to kill her co-wife for cheating on their husband, a court heard on Friday.

Electine Khakasa was charged with threatening to kill Angeline Ngao, 45, on November 17.

Angeline Ngao was resting under a tree in their home when Electine started with the insults, which culminated in  death threats.

The accused allegedly gave the plaintiff 15 minutes to vacate their homestead, or get killed and buried.

“Hata mkiniroga nimetembea Mombasa. Ile madawa niko nayo hamtaniweza. Nimekupa dakika 15 utoke kwa boma na usipoenda nitakuweka kwa mchanga,” She is believed to have told her co-wife.

She then asked her co-wife to ‘go to her men’ and leave her and their husband alone.

The accused pleaded not guilty when she appeared before Kakamega Resident Magistrate William Lopokoiyit, and has since been granted Sh80,000 bond with a surety of similar amount. The matter shall be heard on January 27, 2020.
