A Nairobi court has ordered all passengers on the Chinese flight CZ 6043 to be quarantined at a KDF facility. All passengers are to be rounded up and held at the facility until they are cleared as free of the COVID-19.

“This order applies to all the 239 passengers that they let into the country aboard a Chinese flight CZ 6043 which landed at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on February 26, 2020 at 7:29am,” said Justice James Makau said.

This came after uproar by Kenyans and politicians’ uproar over Kenya’s decision to resume China flights. The Law Society of Kenya moved to Court to demand that it suspends China flights while two doctors sought to have the country tighten the leash on influx of foreigners from WHO-designated hotspots.

“The respondents ought to to embrace public participation and consult medical professionals prior to making serious decisions that are likely to infringe constitutional right of citizens,” read part of their application.
