The media could be wrong in its reports that former President Daniel Toroitich arap Moi died at 95. This is if an assertion by the late’s Press Secretary Lee Njiru is anything to go by.

In an interview with Citizen television, Lee Njiru said the former president was in fact between 102 and 103, and not 95 as is widely assumed.

“I will confirm this to you, Mzee had told me not to look at his ID card, I want to correct you, Moi was between 102 and 103-years-old not 95-years-old like everyone is saying,” said Njiru.

He went further to say that he knew the former President better than every one else, given his job revolved around him.

President Uhuru Kenyatta has said Kenya will observe a period of National Mourning starting today till the day the former President is interred. The National Flag will fly half-mast in all public institutions and he will be accorded a state burial.
