In a chilling case that has shaken the Cheptais Sub-County community, Benson Kitui Siyoi has been sentenced to life imprisonment after being found guilty of defiling his 10-year-old granddaughter.
Senior Principal Magistrate Raymond Lang’at of Sirisia Law Courts delivered the judgment, ruling that the prosecution had successfully proven its case beyond a reasonable doubt. The court highlighted that the evidence presented met the strict legal threshold required for a conviction in cases involving sexual offences against minors.
The magistrate imposed the maximum sentence of life imprisonment, in line with Kenyan law, which prescribes severe penalties for offences involving the defilement of children.
