Safe and Fun Ways for the Whole Family to Count Down to the New Year

Safe and Fun Ways for the Whole Family to Count Down to the New Year
  • PublishedDecember 30, 2025

There are so many ways things could go wrong, even with proper planning. That said, here are three safe and fun ways for the whole family to count down to the new year.

Fireworks and rockets

Firecrackers, rockets, and the whole shebang. Anything that goes pop in the night is an excellent pick. Fireworks were originally stalks of bamboo used to ward off evil spirits in ancient China. But somewhere along the line, as the world caught wind of this tradition, gunpowder became crucial to this equation.

Additionally, the vibrant colors that dazzle the night sky symbolize the festive season that slowly winds up. If you intend to have fireworks, firecrackers or rockets on your property this year, ensure that you have permission from the proper authority first.

Counting down

In the Big Apple, a ball drops. In churches during overnight keshas, screens flicker as the clock approaches midnight. Everywhere people gather in communion to witness the flipping of the last page of the calendar.

Who better to do it with than those nearest and dearest to you? Counting down is one of the most important formalities of the end-of-year ritual; doing it with those who matter will remind you of who counts in the new year.

Family vantage point

The end of the year isn’t just about fireworks; it is about the energy, the views, and the manifestation. 2026 doesn’t just flow in; we will it in. Whether it’s a rooftop, balcony, or clearing, checking out the hubbub in the sky isn’t an experience you and your family want to miss out on.

Sometimes family is all we have, despite the obstacles they may pose. Whether biological or chosen family, we need people to keep us grounded and honest, because sometimes those are the people we need to anchor our lives around in the year to come.
