Starting August 1, 2020, anyone entering the United Arab Emirates (UAE) must present a Covid-19 negative test certificate offered in the past 96 hours. However, the residents of 29 specific countries around the world will have to take a second test once they land in the UAE.

Tanzania, South Africa, Sudan, Nigeria, Egypt, Eritrea, Djibouti and Somalia are among the African countries that will have to take a second test.

Among those African countries listed, South Africa, Egypt and Nigeria have reported the highest Covid-19 cases which are 459,761; 92,947 and 41,804 cases respectively. The countries that have recorded the least number of Covid-19 cases are Tanzania and Eritrea with 509 and 265 cases respectively.

“If you take a test at the airport, you must remain in your hotel or residence until you receive the test result,” Emirates Airlines states on their website.

If the Covid-19 test turns out positive, you must go in isolation and observe the Dubai Health Authority guidelines. You will also be required to download Dubai’s Covid-19 smart app.

Children under the age of 12 and those with a mild or severe disability are not expected to take a Covid-19 test before they board a flight to UAE. UAE residents and citizens will also not have to take a Covid-19 test on arrival unless they are from the 29 highlighted countries.

Other countries that will have to take a second test are Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

KeNHA to close part of Thika Road from Friday to Sunday
The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced that it will close part of Thika Road from Friday July 31st to Sunday August 2nd.

Residents of Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Armenia, Montenegro, Russia, Serbia and Brazil will also have to take a second test. Those passing through the UAE from the US will also have to take a second test specifically those from – Dallas Fort Worth, Houston, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Fort Lauderdale and Orlando, California, Florida and Texas.
