14 lives have been cut short after being involved in a grisly accident at Kikopey on Nairobi-Nakuru highway on Friday morning,.
The accident was caused by a speeding trailer which rammed onto a 14 seater public service vehicle. 11 passengers all died on the spot, whereas one more passenger died while receiving treatment at the Gilgil Sub-County Hospital.
According to the Nakuru County Commissioner Erastus Mbui, the truck’s brakes failed and it lost control as it was descending the Nairobi-Nakuru highway. It then hit two canter lorries before bumping head on with the shuttle.
The truck driver fled even as the turnboy suffered serious injuries.
