Rooted in Love: Celebrating Mothers
In short, but…
To celebrate is to remember, and this issue honours the women who have carried us, shaped us, and refused to let us forget where we’ve come from. Our theme, Celebrating Generations, is a love letter to mothers everywhere. They give us life, they choose us, and they lead with unshakeable conviction that the next generation deserves better.
The stories curated in this edition are not simply profiles. They are testaments. They are proof that when a woman stands firm, entire families, communities and nations find their footing.
We open with a story close to the heart of this issue. Our Cover Feature brings you Ambassador John and Reverend Eva CW, a ministerial couple whose partnership is as much a calling as it is a marriage. You’ll often hear the notion of ambition against intimacy, but John and Eva CW have a different vision. Their journey together is a masterclass in what it means to build something that outlasts you. Their story reminds us that the strongest ministries are built first at the dining table, in moments before the world demands your attention.
In our Survivors column, we are humbled to bring you Wendy Gikono, a woman who has faced not one, not two, but ten illnesses and lived to tell every single story. Wendy’s account is raw, deeply personal, and triumphant. It challenges us to rethink resilience as the decision to keep going even when the body says otherwise. Her story is one of the most powerful we have published, and we trust it will stay with you long after you’re done.
Our Heroes column in this issue shines a light on Teresa Njoroge, a woman who turned her own experience of incarceration into a lifelong mission. Through her work, Teresa is restoring dignity, rebuilding futures, and refusing to allow the justice system to have the final word on anyone’s story. Her work is urgent and necessary.
In our Grooming section, style consultant Esther Muna invites you to stop chasing trends and start trusting yourself. Her philosophy is that every woman has a style DNA, a signature that is entirely her own, and the most elegant thing you can do is to lean into it. Esther’s guidance is practical, warm, and laced with the kind of wisdom that only comes from years of watching.
To every mother, grandmother, and woman who has poured herself into another person’s becoming, this issue is for you. We see you. We celebrate you.
